Degrees of Success
Not made from iron but carbon, Synth Steel is a Corporation technology which uses blends of synthetic carbon-based polymers to form a material with the strength of steel but at a fraction of its weight. Nano-fibres and nanotubes can also be incorporated into the polymer blends. Some kinds of Synth Steel are solid forms that mimic the properties of steel nearly exactly, particularly tensile strength and hardness. However, there are other forms of Synth Steel, two of which are listed below.
This thin fabric of Synth Steel is used to make many forms of resistant clothing, such as the OctantoTM Impenetrable Business Suits. Not only are they more resilient than traditional fabrics, they are well known for being more waterproof and stain-resistant than traditional armour. Synth Weave generally contains a much high concentration of nano-fibres and nanotubes than Synth Steel does.
This version of Synth Steel is transparent and favoured in windows and luxury vehicles. It is more expensive to manufacture as it requires large quantities of special transparent synthetic carbon-based polymers, but it is just as resilient as regular Synth Steel.
